So far! I have already made three purchases from Christmas CRAFTfest, which is currently running over on Creative Connections I hope that everyone does well and sells lots. We have already had reports of quite a few sales so lets keep it up.
I thought that you may like to see my purchases. My first one was this fabulous card from Waterlily Cards

I have bought it for the small boy for Christmas and I'm having his name put at the top and Happy Christmas on the bumper. :)

My second and third purchases were from Raven's Stained Glass. Look at this beautiful Holly Decoration, it will look lovely in my kitchen window.

And I just couldn't resist one of Chrissie's Holly Tree Decorations as well.

I'm very much looking forward to my purchases arriving and hearing how other people have been doing at the event. CRAFTfest is still running and will also be open all day tomorrow so if you have any Christmas shopping to do there are almost 175 stalls to choose from. The March CRAFTfest is now planned for the 10th and 11th so if you didn't get to take part in this one look out for the booking forms to open.

So, how is everyone getting on with their Xmas shopping this year? I think I am very nearly done and will start the wrapping sessions next week. That and trying to convince wonderful husband to get the decorations down from the loft. I thought I would get it all sent in early in case we end up with snow again. It was a bit touch and go as to whether certain gifts were going to arrive at all last year!

Small boys preschool show was cancelled last year due to the snow as well so hopefully that won't happen again as he starts Primary School in January. He is Incy Wincy Spider apparently, which I find rather confusing as they are doing Jack and the Beanstalk! I am sure all will become clear on the day. I shall let you know. ;)

I am rather fed up at the moment! Over the past few weeks I have been trying to get a copy of Quickbooks Pro 2010 for a reasonable (ish) price on Ebay. Well, I finally got one! or so I had thought. When it arrived yesterday I installed it on my computer only to discover that it was the US version and was totally useless! :( My data wouldn't import and the tax would be all wrong anyway. I checked the listing and there was no mention at all about this so I emailed the seller and have had no reply. I could cry. :(
Today seems to be going much the same way as I ordered myself a new belt. Feeling confident that I had chosen the correct size after using a tape measure that I had found in my sewing box I was looking forward to it arriving. Which it now has!! Do they have different inches in China? Only the belt was way too small and I'm not surprised when I checked another tape measure. The one that I had used in the first place appears to have an inch measuring closer to an inch and a half! ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH! So I am rather down, sad and despondant and also a little uneasy about ordering online. You may also add decidedly chilly into the mix.
I hope everyone else is having a better day.

I did say that I would take a picture of small boy with all of his new bugs on his birthday. In all the stress with the next issue of Creative Crafting and CRAFTfest! I haven't had any time.

But here we go, a lovely picture of him covered in his new creepy crawlies.
He also adored the Dragon Fly cake that Nanny made for him. The first thing he did on arriving was to go straight into the kitchen and pull a wing and one of its legs off. Such a boy thing to do!
By the way, the cheese and pineapple was a special request from Sir himself although on the day he didn't touch a single piece!

She's done it again!! Beautiful!

Maria from Minxtures has done it again! She has made me two of her beautiful fleece cushions for my boys. They will be taking pride of place on the sofa. Just as soon as I can get them to put them down! They are being cuddled constantly. If you love cushions, duvet covers, bags etc you must pop over to Marias shop as her work is such fantastic quality. I highly recommend her to you all. :) I've already been given a Christmas list from the small boy who is trying to talk me into commissioning some of Marias soft toys for him. lol.

There were actually a lot more photos of the small one as he loves to be photographed. It is his 4th Birthday on Monday so I'm sure the camera will be extremely busy. Watch this space for the fallout from all of the insect related gifts that I have found for him. Eww!

A very quick, yet rather mad week!

After what has been an incredibly hectic week, I am now sat here rather 'shell-shocked'! It's been one of those times that are filled with high points and an equal if not larger amount of low ones. Very, very busy at the beginning as the manic preparations for the Creative Connections Birthday party had to be dealt with. Then it was the big day itself on Tuesday which went very well luckily. Lots of people came and we had a lovely crafty chatty day. (I now have the burning desire to scrapbook everything though, probably a good thing that I wasn't around for the felt making chat!) The next issue of Creative Crafting is coming along nicely and the first printed copies that have been purchased are on their way to their new owners. (I will be totally paranoid until I hear that they have arrived safely...chews fingernails)
My wranglings with Amazon about publishing on kindle have been bouncing back and forth and I'm fast coming to the conclusion that it just isn't going to happen. I did however whip up a book version of edited features which is all set to publish as soon as I work out what my iban number is!!! Annoyingly, although there are literally thousands of free books available, when you publish yourself you are not allowed to give them away! I think this is highly unfair as I want ours to be FREE!! It may never actually see the light of day. :( As you can see from these two images though, it does actually exist! Would anyone actually pay for it?

I have now had far too much coffee and am finding it hard to settle to anything. Hence the general waffling. So sorry, but it's something to write about isn't it.

Ooo! I almost forgot to tell you. My printed copy of the magazine arrived. I am very proud of it. I know that it is quite expensive from the HP site but it is lovely. (I did notice however that other craft magazines on there are considerably higher priced than ours!! Fancy that!) The pages are lovely and thick and it is perfect if you are featured and would like a copy. We are looking at a small print run for future issue if the printers ever actually reply to me. School shoe time again!! Ooo! Look Dinos!

That time of year again! It comes around so fast doesn't it. The yearly trip to Clarkes. I am eternally grateful that my mum and dad buy the shoes every year for my boys as the prices seem to be through the roof. I am also having serious doubts about the suitability of Clarkes anymore. The range seems to get smaller, the prices higher and the quality lower! The year before last my eldest had some of their Bootleg range. They started to fall to pieces after about 6 weeks, it got so bad that wonderful husband had to use filler on them and replace the fitting for the velcro bar!! Last year we discovered that they hold a small amount of Clarkes brand shoes 'under the counter' so to speak. (in the back room actually!)
These don't appear to be on general display. They were far superior in quality and have lasted considerably better than the previous years. Unfortunately they didn't have any of those in his size this year so we have tried the Bootleg ones again after being assured they are better quality than they were. I have my doubts though so will keep you updated.

But the small boy!! Well, who would believe it!! This year they have a new 'Stomposaurus' range. Perfect for a little dino lover like the small one. He chose the pair that he liked, tried them on and went over and checked his appearance in the mirror. They are very cool, they have a t'rex on the sole and are named Raptoboy!

As these will be his first proper 'school' shoes we also popped along to Shoezone and bought him some trainers. (The Clarkes ones were yes you guessed it, very pricey and extremely heavy. Also a poor fit!) Incredibly his new trainers also have dinosaurs on. Triceratops this time!! He says that they make him as fast as the fastest scorpion!

Next year we may not be going back to Clarkes, does anyone have any ideas of other good quality shoe stores that offer a fitting service?

Bugs, bugs and brain ache!

I keep finding myself staring at the screen! Not because I have nothing to do but because I don't seem to be able to engage my brain! This may not be surprising as I am rather tired having been up and down out of bed all of last night like a yo-yo. The small one kept thinking of reasons for me to boing out of bed the minute I lay my head down. So I am a little jaded today and no amount of coffee seems to be doing the trick.
Time away from the screen may be called for especially as the small one just asked "How's are you getting on Computer Girl?". He really is only 3! Honest!
Some exciting things have happened though, I am currently awaiting the first printed proof copy of Creative Crafting Magazine. Super exciting! I hope it comes out OK. It has also been giving me brain ache trying to work out how to convert it all to XML for the e-reader version.
On another note, I have been busily ordering insect related gifts for the small ones 4th Birthday at the end of the month. Not really my thing as I hate bugs of all kinds. On Tuesday he received a fabulous gift from his Nan and Grandad of a glow in the dark bug t-shirt and cap. HE ADORES THEM! In fact I had lots of tears on Tuesday evening at PJ time as he wanted to wear them 'FOREVER' Here is a little pic of him demonstrating them. He is currently missing the big one who is spending his summer week with Nan and Grandad.
I have no idea where this love of bugs came from, I prefer the dinosaur or car stages that he has been through. As well as publishing the August issue of the magazine this week I have also had a quick revamp of my Mystic Earth Website. and last week I totally changed my Radiance Crystals Site. No rest for the wicked! ;) Oh, and also made a couple of pairs of earrings after a little boost from selling a bracelet.

A spot of Carrot and Parsnip soup!

Just for a change, today hasn't gone as planned! My to do list has not become any shorter and I'm not feeling particularly satisfied. I did however, decide to make myself some carrot and parsnip soup for lunch. "That doesn't sound that unusual" you say. Well, actually, it is for me. I have never liked soup so why I felt like making some today totally escapes me but there you go. It may have a lot to do with the fact that I am trying to keep to below 1200 calories a day. No mean feat I can tell you, I could easily consume that in coffee alone! So the soup, yes, I bunged the carrots and parsnips (totally random amount) into a saucepan with some water. Boiled them half to death and then whizzed them up with a bit of salt, parsley and butter. Believe it or not, it was edible. I even managed to consume almost half of the bowl! There it is in all it's orange glory. Yes, I know its very thick for soup but as I may have mentioned, I'm not a soup fan. So I left it nice and thick.
Now, what else didn't I do today? Well, I didn't revamp my website like I was going to, didn't complete lots of articles for the magazine, totally forgot to order some more beading wire and probably lots more. But I did pick up about 250 toy dinosaurs off my living room floor after the small one upended the box and refused to put them back in, and I did repair a dragon who repeatedly came apart much to his annoyance. Tescos did arrive and amazingly there were no bizarre substitutions today and the driver was very nice and not pervy like the one who delivered the other week. (eww shudder)

Ah, now I promised you a picture of my boys with their new PE bags cleverly created by Maria from Minxtures. Obviously the smaller one chose a spider (he has a thing about insects!) and the creature on the bigger ones bag is the pokemon Cyndaquil. I am expecting these to cause quite a stir at school but should hopefully mean that they are more noticeable amongst the sea of Navy Blue plastic ones. Please excuse the state of the kitchen. Maria is an absolute whizz with a sewing machine so make a note of her shop address for a later time.
Well, I'll let you get on. I must, also, as the bigger one has a friend around from school and he is in full show off mode. I give them about another 15 minutes before the smaller one gets fed up and starts causing trouble.

I became so bored with writing my blog that I just gave up doing it completely!! I was trying to use it to promote my businesses which just isn't very interesting is it. So, here I am, reinventing it completely and making it far more general. I can't promise that I will write that often as time is something I don't have much of but you never know, I may catch the blogging bug again.

So where am I today? Well, I am currently sorting out articles and blog posts for Creative Crafting Magazine, managing three twitter accounts and running about after my 3 (almost 4 as he keeps telling me) year old son. I must quickly tell you that we did manage to get away for a few days the other month. First time in years, short weekend trip down to Cornwall with my mum and dad, Mr Wonderful (aka, my husband) and my boys. I was far too short but lovely, apart from Midnight wanderings by the small boy which caused me to fall down the stairs! But enough about that, we did have fun. One thing that particularly amused us was the row of cupboards in the kitchen of our lodge. They had no handles and as well as cupboards hid a fridge, freezer and washing machine. Now, my mother and I had great fun with this especially the freezer as it was extremely elusive. It soon became clear that it only exposed itself to men as only Mr Wonderful and my father could actually find it. And no, we hadn't hit the wine by this point. lol. Anyway, here is an image of the aforementioned row of cupboards.

Yes, I know, there doesn't look very many cupboards but it kept us amused for a good hour or so for some reason. I may be going slightly batty but lets keep that between us shall we.

What else have I been up to other than work - Ah yes, I was asked by the small boy to make him a scorpion. An orange one no less! It was quite a task but after spending an entire Sunday at it, here is the result.

My son is desperate for me to include a photo of him with his new PE bag that was kindly made for us by Marie at Minxtures but I will save them until I have a shot of his older brother with his. Now I am sure there are lots of other things I could mention but I think I've taken up enough of your time so I'll leave it there for today, I could waffle on for hours but who wants that! I should also get some work done.

Look at me go!! Two days in a row. Let's hope I can keep it up.

I thought I'd share a quick tip with you today, of course most of you probably already know but it can't hurt can it. When creating new designs it is always a good idea to test drive them. I am soon embarking on a new range of lockets and pendants and so I made one for my mum to see how it would go. As I guessed, there were a few teething problems but thankfully she loves it anyway.

My mum is away from home a lot so I wanted to give her something to take it along with her. I created a locket with a picture taken from in front of her house of a view I know that she loves. Inside the locket I put photographs of all three of her grandchildren. I also added Moss Agate in sections in the chain to break it up a bit. There were a few problems.

The whole gluing process was new to me so I was a little overcareful which messed it up slightly. After applying countless layers of Mod Podge I finally got to the Diamond Glaze time. I was concerned about using too much so was a little sparing. This was a mistake. There wasn't enough to come up and seal the sides and also cover the whole picture which has left shadows. Still, lesson learnt.

The chain also gave me issues. I used nymo covered with seed beads to complete it and was a bit worried about the strength. Turns out I was right as the thread snapped fairly quickly. I then ordered some brass wire and redid it. This is far better.

So the moral of this story is .... always test drive your designs. Mums are fabulous for this job. :-)

I have actually been meaning to start writing my blog again for aaaaaaaaaaaaages, but everytime I pull up the new post page my mind just goes totally blank. It isn't through lack of things happening as the last few months have been mega hectic. I guess I just don't want to bore everyone. :-(

Blogging seems to come very easily to some people and I am very jealous, perhaps I just need to get back in to the swing of things. What do you think? Anyone else having bloggers block.

With regard to my business, it is keeping me busy, if not with website sales (which have been diabolical over the last year) than with the magazine which eats up a lot of my time, along with hubby and my two boys of course. The bigger one is currently spending a week with his Nan and Grandad so things around here are a little quieter as they are at that constant bickering stage at the moment. The smaller one has successfully come out of nappies now and we are soooooo proud of him. He's such a clever little boy. I am so thankful it all went well as it was sheer hell with the bigger one. it seemed to go on for months and was totally soul destroying. Leavng the smaller one a bit longer seems to have done the trick.

By Friday when he returns I believe my mum will now be as much as a Pokemon expert as I am. For anyone with children into this game I highly recommend buying one and playing it yourself. Not only is it a great little game but you suddenly become able to communicate with your child again. No longer is he speaking a foreign language, we now have a special little bond. Also, nothing makes them prouder than telling their friends that their mum plays pokemon. They all come round to the house to trade with me, I'm quite the local celebrity in the playgound. lol

Anyway, I do hope you can all forgive me for being away for so long, I'd love to hear from you if you have the time to leave me any comments.

Who am I?

It's been a while!! Sorry, life has been very hectic.
September brought about a big change in our household. Not only did the bigger one go back to school, (different class and teacher, big thing!) but the smaller one also started pre-school. I think it was actually a bigger deal for mummy than 'himself' as he had been looking forward to it for ages!
Apart from a slight blip (or rather screaming tantrum) about ten minutes after I had left him on his first day, he seems to have settled into the routine very well. I now enjoy a couple of hours a day when I can actually be myself. I haven't quite remembered who this is yet so it is all a bit strange but I am rather enjoying it. Surprisingly, I am not managing to get more work done. I am finding that the opposite is happening but the house is in better order. So now, I am waiting for the 'me' that I used to be to re-emerge! Has she gone forever, or is she just hiding? Personally I think she is biding her time until she has a little more of it! This is made abundantly clear as I attempt to write this whilst being harassed by the smaller one to tidy up the mess that he has created. Mums are people too! Aren't we?

For a few weeks now, we have had a lovely new friend that lives in our garden.

Isn't he gorgeous!

He's by far the biggest hedgehog I've ever seen, although this isn't really surprising as our garden is hedgehog heaven! We have far too many slugs and snails for my liking, as our mulitlated sunflowers can tell you. We often see him (or her, I'm not sure how to tell at this distance) carefully picking his way across the lawn at tea time. Also, occasionally early in the morning. I was concerned at one point though as I spotted him legging it out of the gate and then didn't see him for a few days but as I was repeatedly told, he was back.
Anyway, I hope he chooses to stay with us for the summer as the children (and I) love to see him. He has been fondly named 'Andy' by the smaller one.

£5 turned into £10 and mummy had no money again!!!

I'm just too soft! I had to take some library books back so thought I would combine it with a little holiday treat for the boys. We went to McDonalds, originally intending on the drive through but the queue was huge so we went in. I discovered something new that I hadn't tried before and was pleasantly surprised. The Chicken Salad Deli Sandwich. Do try one, it was really nice!
Anyway, after fighting our way through that, and two happy meals, 2 plastic dragon toys, (one of which was defective) we set off home again. On the way home I decided to treat them further. I decided that £5 each in Toys'R'Us would be nice!!! Why I would considered this a possibility I don't know. It was never going to end well. Don't get me wrong they both had a great time but somehow the £5 turned into £10 and there you go! Skint again!

The bigger one treated himself to a talking, cuddly pokemon toy that he absolutely had to have to go with all of his others!!! The smaller one now has a transformer which he seems to be quite happy with as the vehicle and doesn't care about it being a robot! Could have just got a standard bin lorry instead!! (Yes, I did say bin lorry, don't remember that one in the film do you?)

Anyway, they seem happy with them at the moment, although they will probably be forgotten tomorrow like everything else. Oh no! I nearly said it!! Wasn't like that when I was young!!
Oh well, was bound to happen sooner or later!

6 weeks since I gave up Diet Coke!!!

I would like to announce that it is now 6 weeks since I gave up diet coke!!!! Yay, go me!! It was all I really drank every day, but then my sister sent me an email about the aspartame sweetner that it contained. Apparently it gives you Aspartame poisoning which in extreme cases has been misdiagnosed as MS. Well, I gave up cold turkey straight after reading this email. It was HELL!!!!!!!!!!! I had the worst headache for a whole week. After this time though I began to feel totally different. I had more energy and I could think far more clearly. Now this may be a coincidence but I don't think so. I did try a small glass of coke a couple of weeks ago and couldn't drink it, it tasted terrible! My problem now is what do I drink? I hate the taste of water, have tried various squashes, carbonated water etc. I went to Tesco today to search for Squashes that didn't contain the dreaded sweetner for my children and do you know, I only found three! Ribena, Vimto and an organic one.(which I bought and they hate!) Why do they put sweetner in drinks that already contain sugar?
If anyone knows of any good drinks for me or my kids pllleeeeeaaassseeeee let me know.

Back to school !!! phew!

Another half term survived!!! Just! I love both of my boys to bits but when they get together all day everyday.... need I say more? The sheer volume and all the banging and shouting drives me to distraction. That and all of the extra slave duties back and forwards from the kitchen. Well, its nice to back to normal. Its getting ever closer to when the smaller one starts nursery in September too. Two and a half hours a day just for me, I bet they'll seem like 5 minutes but the quiet will be nice.
The bigger one is going on an overnight residential with the school next month. What a drama thats been, he's going, he's not going, he's going!!!! He doesn't have enough trainers (apparently he needs to take 3 pairs!! What exactly are they planning to do, its only overnight). It will be an experience for him, if he actually makes it there. The smaller one on the other hand still doesn't sleep at night, still downs bottles and bottles of juice and then needs changing completely in the wee(literally) small hours, still pushes me out of bed all night. Sleep, sleep, I miss you!
Lovely husband has also been a big scratchy recently, I think alot of it is due to lack of nicotine!!! He gets his tobacco supplies when my parents come back from their trips and they've been away longer than usual this time. He is so short on golden virginia that he is producing the thinest roll ups I've ever seen!!! Thankfully a friend brought round a packet of reasonably priced stuff yesterday so he should be a bit more human! (well he would be if the shower hadn't packed up on him! Having to have a bath every morning before work doesn't a lovely husband make!)

I made a short film today!!!! When I got up this morning I found that the bigger one had discovered Windows Movie Maker and was busy creating a film about his favourite computer game. This seemed like fun so I thought I would have a go too. It was fun, once I had worked out how it all worked and you can see the fruits of my labour on You Tube. (Or actually just below here) Its not perfect but its a start.

I thought it was about time my blog had a new look. It isn't completely finished but its getting there. It may develop a little more over the next week or so when I have time to fiddle with it.

I've been rather busy lately doing the magazine and updating my Mystic Earth site. I have added seperate pages for my Crystal Properties and will soon be adding more stones to make it an even more comprehensive guide.

This morning I completed two sets of bookmarks. A set of four for Mystic Earth and more for the Gothic section of my Radiance Crystals site. They are all double sided, laminated and have a lovely charm on the organza ribbon.

My new advertising aid arrived yesterday!!! She's lovely, I didn't really play with dolls much as a child but I intend to make up for it now. lol

Everyone, this is Merrick!

Her head is fully poseable and I've found that different positions give her different expressions. I'm also hoping to be able to get her more wigs in the future. I do, however, have to practice putting material and clothes around her as she tends to look a bit like Lady Penelope from 'Thunderbirds'. (Think its the skinny shoulder look). lol. Small boy was fascinated when he first saw her, until her wig fell off, then he got worried. Lovely husbands face was a picture too when he came into the kitchen to see her set on my desk. I think she made him jump!

With Merricks help, I have updated the photos for my Crystal Cobweb Necklace. Hopefully it will be making someone sparkle this Halloween.

We had so much fun putting together the first issue of our Creative Crafting magazine that we have now started work on our next festive issue due out on 1st December.

The amount of readers that we have had is staggering, we are all so proud! Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, we are very pleased that you are enjoying it. The Christmas issue will be full of lots of good stuff to make, buy and learn and we thought that we would offer you the chance to play an important part.

After alllooooooooottt of work, the first issue of our crafting magazine, Creative Crafting has just been published. this last 24 hours has proved to be particularly frantic with humongus files flying backwards and forwards between myself and Avril (Sprinkles Sparkles). The file was so big, we had to search online for an online resource to send it. lol.

It has been quite a journey but we are all very proud of the end product. Now we can start preparing for the Christmas Issue which should be fun. Not forgetting that we all have businesses to run too, so at some point making some Christmas stock may not be a bad idea.

The Healing Garden

My Mystic Earth Website now has its very own Healing Garden section. I love making these so it should be expanding at quite a rapid rate. I am being told by friends that I am pricing the pieces too cheaply but I think I would rather sell lots at less than none at more. That way I can keep making them! (I have very naughtily ordered lots of different coloured wires so watch this space!)

Last night I made some beautiful Labradorite and Moonstone Earrings. The labradorite has the most gorgeous light and dark blue flashes in it. As well as on my website I have also listed them on Misi.

I have been thinking of designs for this years Seasonal range. After much thought I decided to take inspiration from my garden and started to make something. It took shape as various leaves, with berries and flowers and then I got stuck! I couldn't decide what it was going to be. After consulting my friends on Creative Connections and a phone call to my mum it was decided that it would make a lovely brooch. It is created using Peridot, Malachite and Garnet Gemstone chips and Siam Red Swarovski Crystals. I hope you like it. It is listed on Misi and on my Radiance Website.

I also made some earrings to go with it. These are also on Misi and on my site.

I love happy customers.

"In July, you made for me a necklace and two pairs or earrings, at the time I was suffering with very bad pain in my shoulders and neck. I could not sleep and was unable to work in the garden, which since my retirement is my pride and joy, infact I was in pain all the time.

When I first put on the jewellery, which in itself is so beautiful I felt this warmth, which was very comfortable. However on the following day, the pain was slightly worse. I did however, realise that this was a healing crisis and from that day it slowly eased away.

Words can not express my graitude to you for this relief from pain, I can now sleep and today ahve spent a wonderful day working in my garden, but not just these two aspects of my life have changed. My whole outlook is different as I feel I can now do anything. I am sure that I am also much easier to live with, and my long-suffering husband will agree.

Also, this jewellery as I mentioned is so beautiful, I get compliments on it all the time. I wear the short pair of earrings every day but the second pair, which you made longer, enables me to be elegant in the evening. The two pairs were such a good idea of yours.

My Rose Quartz Saga!!!

My friends on Creative Connections will have heard of my Rose Quartz fiasco this week.
A couple of weeks ago I created a Custom Healing Necklace for a lady in Australia. It was beautiful and contained Rose Quartz, Lepidolite, Mangano Calcite, Rhodochroisite, Amethyst and Swarovski Crystal.

It was taking a while to arrive and I was concerned that it had got lost. I then received an email from the customer saying that she had received it. I was horrified to find that it had been in Quarantine and the Rose Quartz had turned completely black. She said it looked like Onyx.

I received an email this morning from the lady, she appears to have got to the bottom of it. During July and August letter class mail from India is bulk treated by quarantine with Gamma irradiation before delivery to minimise any potential quarantine risk. Apparently it is all to do with the Hindu festival Rakhi. They will offer her compensation and it should be safe for me to send a replacement.

Can you imagine this with black stones!

So guys, it looks like it is still safe to send Rose Quartz internationally, but it would be best to avoid sending it to Australia during July and August. Just to be on the safe side!

Creative Connections

Its been a while I know, but I've had a real problem with my phone lines! They've been driving me nuts. On again, off again and then off completely last weekend. Luckily I know a good repair man who came round and sorted them out for me on Monday.
I can't believe how bereft I was without my internet connection. It was as though I had lost a body part. I kept having panic attacks about checking my emails!!!! Is that really sad or what!

Still, I'm back now and trying to catch up on everything that I have missed.

I have also started a new social network. Yes, I know we have enough to do. Twitter, Facebook, blogging etc. But this network is just for us crafters. A place that we can all be together and get to know eachother. As I created it I would love everyones ideas about how to make it better, things that we can do. Which of you would like featuring etc.

Mystic Earth is quite busy at the moment (It's wonderful, I am thoroughly enjoying it) I have lots of ideas for new pieces to make but am not getting much time to create them as I have been filling custom orders. I did get chance to whip up a beautiful bracelet the other day though. Wonderful for anyone who is fond of blue. I used gold plated findings for a change as they set off the blue perfectly.

It is created using 8mm Sodalite and luminous cobalt Swarovski Crystals. For anyone who hasn't seen this Swarovski Colour you are missing a treat. They are fabulous, they seem to glow. Unfortunately they are impossible to photograph so you really can't tell how wonderful they are.

The seasons do seem to make a difference!

I just wanted to share something that I discovered the other day. I was just thinking that most of the custom healing necklaces that I am making at the moment seem to be containing similar stones and colours. When I thought about this I realised it also occurred when I made a lot before Christmas. Only they were different stones and colours.

Now you are probably wondering what I am talking about as you are thinking that it is probably a fashion thing. But it isn't!!!!

You see, I choose the stones and colours for the necklaces from the questionnaires that my clients fill in about their health. Different physical and psychological issues require different stones and colours. So you see, it is very interesting! The ailments needing attention in the winter all called for darker stones, bloodstone, smoky quartz etc. Lots of orange Carnelian. My summer necklaces all seem to need lighter stones, Blue Lace Agate, Citrine, Prehnite. I am finding alot of stomache, neck and shoulder problems at the moment.

Does anyone else find this fascinating or is it just me!!!???

I have had quite a few people asking about my creation service at the moment so I thought I would mention it on here.

I provide my clients with a brief questionnaire where they tell me about themselves and let me know any physical or psychological issues that they would like support with.

I then research the most beneficial healing stones for them and create their required jewellery. Necklace, Bracelet, Earings, Pendant Watch etc. Sometimes clients like to add a favourite talisman or pendant of their own to the design.

The jewellery is sent to the client with a colourful silk purse for storage and a personalized information booklet with photographs and comprehensive descriptions of the stones that make up the piece.

I am proud to say that my clients always fall in love with their jewellery and I often keep in touch with them to hear how they are getting on.

Business as usual

My custom healing necklaces seem to be fairly steady at the moment. I received a lovely email from the lady who received the one I made last week saying how much she loved it, so that made me smile. I have also just received the questionnaire back from a lady who ordered one yesterday so I will be delving into the world of beautiful healing minerals later on today to choose the most suitable.

I also had a little creative spurt yesterday and have a few more things to add to my website.

For a while now I have had the components to make some hair accessories and it was my friend Avril from Sprinkles Sparkles. She had a delivery of some fabulous ribbons yesterday to make lots of hair accessories herself so don't forget to check out her blog to see her creations.

So far I have created a Hair Clip and some decorated hair grips. They are wired with Olivine Swarovski Crystals, seed beads and Unakite Chips.

Unakite is a beautiful pink and green stone that is very beneficial for the hair. It helps to
maintain growth and condition.

I also had a mess about with some antique chain and made a simple, if unusual necklace encompassing a cross that I had lying around. I have some lovely silver lockets that may benefit from a similar type of chain.

Yes, I know, I have been very slack in writing my posts recently. I am keeping up with website and direct orders but everything else does seem to have gone by the by at the present. There are possible things in the pipeline here and other 'life' things get in the way. But I promise to try harder and try to post more reguarly as soon as I can.

On another note, alot of people have commented on the background that I have for my twitter profile and now on here. It is a favourite of mine, the 'fantasy garden'. So I thought that I would show you the whole picture and not just the sides which is all you usually get to see.

When I first started twittering and started my blog, I signed up for both Misi and Folksy. I only listed two items on Folksy as I decided that I preferred the look and feel of Misi so would dedicate myself to doing more on there. Weirdly though I sold one of the two items on Folksy this morning and am still to have a sale on Misi! Did I choose the wrong site perhaps? Maybe I should list more on there. What about Etsy and Artfire, are they better contenders too?

Anyones thoughts on this would be greatfully appreciated.

Fruit in my garden

Our garden isn't large but it does have some lovely trees and plants in it. I think at some point a very keen gardener lived here and spent alot of time in it. I went a wandering with my camera and small boy and took some pictures of various fruits and flowers. Wait until you see the size of our blackberries when they come out! I've never seen such large ones!

Our hydrangea is exceptionally beautiful this year. It is usually all pink but this year has blue and purple flowers too.

Small boy is fascinated by all of the fruit on the trees. Our little plum tree has excelled itself this year. Two years ago it look completely dead, we trimmed it and it produced two plums. Last year it grew five. This year it has about fifty. It is only small and it is all plums. Lovely, juicy red ones. Can't wait. Our pear tree always produces hundreds of pears, we usually offer them to friends and neighbours as there are so many. The apples are lovely but get alot of bugs

By the way, I thought I would show off something new I made last friday. My wrists are still suffering from it, but it's so gorgeous and I'm very proud of it.

It is made using the Byzantine Chain Maille weave and consists of hundreds of tiny rings (made by myself!) all connected together. Isn't it gorgeous?!?!?!? When my wrists recover I am going to make some lovely therapeutic copper ones, although this one is silver plated copper so is still really good for you. :-)

Craft Corner - neat at last!

I'm exhausted, and very achy but it was worth it!!!! My little corner is now organised.

My workstation exists in a corner of my kitchen, this is partly because it enables me to make jewellery while I make dinner and also because the four of us live in a very small bungalow. It is rather cluttered too, a fact that annoys lovely husband a great deal. Luckily we don't have too many outbursts about it, I think because he has had to put up with me for a long time now. If he lived alone he would probably have a bed, a reclining chair, a very large tv and his playstation! Whereas I have a bit of a problem throwing things away (I may need it, you never know!). It actually does annoy me but by then it is a huge problem to sort out so just gets left a bit longer!

Anyway, I have been struggling on in a disorganised manner with my desk being used as a dumping ground by everyone. I couldn't concentrate and my books kept falling over so I woke up yesterday and decided to do something about it. After dropping the bigger one at school, small boy and I went over to our local Argos and collected two small shelving units. On our return we then set about putting them together. This wasn't going too well until I braved the shed and went through lovely husbands tool box (shhhh!) There I found a ratchet screwdriver, what a wonderful thing, now I know his secret to fast flatpack building! Small boy was a great help, a little on the bossy side but he did well. We soon had both shelving units together.

Then came the part that always seems to happen. I began to clear my desk top and drawers so that I could place the new shelves on top and get organized. Where did all of this stuff come from, it kept piling up, falling over, piling up some more. That's when I hit the 'wish I hadn't started this' point! Even small boy had deserted me and gone off to watch tv in the lounge. But I soldiered on and finally managed to get everything put back and sorted. It looked fantastic!! I was so pleased. I sent a picture message to lovely husband to show him my handiwork. He sent a text reply saying ' looks nice!' 'NICE' He now regrets that remark!! He did admit on his return home that the pictures really don't do it justice and it is as wonderful as I first thought. Wonderful man.

So now, I have a lovely area which hopefully won't get cluttered again. An aching back and aching wrists and am exhausted from a terrible nights sleep but it was worth it.

Peanut Butter Cake and a Har Hoo!!

Fathers Day seemed to go off without a hitch yesterday, the boys even fell asleep so that lovely husband could watch the Grand Prix. I seemed to spend most of the day cooking and washing up. By mid afternoon I realised that there wasn't a desert!! This would not do so decided to whip up some kind of cake. Now this was always going to be somewhat of a disaster as the electric oven in this house seems incapable of cooking a decent cake!!! I previously had a gas oven that made my cakes come out huge but not this one!! Alas, they are all somewhat flat and alot don't rise at all. But this did not deter me and the cake was made. Lovely husband wanted a bit of flavour so I decided to experiment and added a few large desert spoons of Peanut Butter to the mixture. It came out surpringly well, a little flat but not bad. I did overdo the buttercream though, with hindsight I would have left the top plain.

On Saturday, I also made another toy for small boy. He appears to have become quite fond of one of the Har Hoos from his favourite program, In the Night Garden. They seem to be large balloon like creatures that don't actually do anything but he liked one in particular. All seemed to be going well until I lost concentration and attached some of the petal like things the wrong way round. Lovely husband said he wouldn't notice but he did!!! Straight away. Not doing well am I, a tractor that should have had moveable wheels and a har hoo with the colours the wrong way round. Will I never learn!!!!

Happy Fathers Day and Misi Wanderings

I would like to wish a Happy Fathers Day to all of those dedicated dads out there!! Especially, lovely husband who we all couldn't manage without. Hoping for a sunny, stress free day!!!! fingers crossed.

I feel a little slack as I missed out doing any Misi Wanderings last week. But not today!! Here are a selection of lovely items that caught my attention from the talented people on Misi.

It was a harhoo from In the Night Garden for the small boy. I lost concentration and put two of the coloured petals the wrong way round, and he noticed, bless him!!! He still likes it though.

Its been quite a tiring week!

The bigger one has been doing his sat's at school, been a little bit poorly and very tired (crabby doesn't start to describe it. Bless him!). Alot of my twitter friends will also know that Small Boy has also been rather ill with something. It started with a recurring fever, which is actually still there. Then on Thursday he came out in a rash. I took him to the doctors but she wasn't sure what it was! (This was a little disappointing because I could have stayed at home with that knowledge) She thought that it may be chicken pox, but the rash didn't look right. Doesn't this mean that it probably isn't chicken pox then? Anyway, it turned out not to be as by the next day it had mostly faded. So he isn't spotty anymore but still has the odd temperature and has now started vomiting too!! Joy for me as I always get covered in it. But thats enough of that, hopefully both of my beautiful boys will make a speedy recovery and get back to normal soon.

On the jewellery front, I have also had a creative spurt. I have just posted a mixed box of goodies for my mum. She is currently experience alot of neck and shoulder pain so we thought we would try and sort it out. Luckily she is very receptive to healing stones so fingers crossed.

The main piece of jewellery is a necklace. This consists of Blue Lace Agate, Prehnite, Hawks Eye, Clear Quartz and Aquamarine, complemented with Aquamarine and Peridot Swarovski Crystals. I had a bit of a time with this one as none of my seed beads seemed to work. I ordered some new ones and when they arrived I completed the necklace. I used Ceylon Blue and Seafoam in the end. The strange thing was that the colour really seemed to matter. As soon as I added the blue seed beads it was like the power turning on. It seemed to radiate energy and appears desperate to be worn. I also made three pairs of earrings to go with the necklace and added a different bracelet and a beautiful tree brooch made by lovely husband. You can tell this by how precise it is, if I had made it I think it would have been rather random and bushy!! Isn't it lovely!

While I was at it I just had to make myself a Prehnite bracelet. I hadn't seen any before and it called to me. It is a beautiful stone.

What is your current obsession?
I have two!! One I get to do and the other I don't!! The one I manage to satisfy my obsession with is Twitter. Somewhat addicted to it at the moment. Sometimes I tell myself 'The whole world is ear-wigging into my conversations' but it still doesn't stop me making an idiot out of myself by tweeting to my username by accident!! Again and again and again!!!
The other thing I love at the moment is the Wii game Endless Ocean. I love it, so relaxing. I think there are two reasons why I like it. The music by Hayley Westenra is beautiful, and in real life I would never have the nerve to dive in the ocean like that and it actually feels real at times (yes, I know I'm sat on the sofa) but it still freaks me out when I go down into deep valley and enter the abyss!!!

What is your greatest achievement?
Well, predictable I suppose but it has to be my two beautiful children. They are and always will be my greatest achievement. I often look at them and think 'I made them'.

Coffee or Tea?
Hmmm! Well, I do like coffee, although people that know it is more like milk with a hint of coffee! My favourite has to be tea though. I don't function without a cup of tea in the morning. Milk and two sugars (or 3 sweetners) please.

What’s for dinner?
The recipe calls it Chicken Broth but I always add more rice which makes it into more of a risotto. Chicken, Rice, Stock, Onions, Turnips, Celery and Carrots. Yummy.

What have you just made?
I am just making a healing necklace for my mum. It is to help with neck and shoulder pain. I am using Blue Lace agate, Hawks Eye, Prehnite, Aquamarine and Quartz. I am accenting it with peridot and aqaumarine swarovski crystals. I will add a picture when it is done. :-)

What are you listening to right now?
The new Nickleback album Dark Horse. Loving it too. Although since I found a great download site where I can download tracks for 9c I'm re-buying all of my old vinyl stuff. Its great, I hear a song I like, I pop on and download it. Love it!

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Am I allowed to say 'all of them'!! No, OK then. Thats tough. Could be Caramalised Pecan. I'm totally nuts anyway so whats a bit more!

What do you think of the person who tagged you?
What a lovely lady, and funny too. A good sense of humour is so important don't you think. Helps us all keep going. And that felt brooch, a lady after my own heart!

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Ok, having a small boy who doesn't sleep at all and is rarely out of our bed, I am tempted to say 'back to bed' although that may just be because I am incredibly tired and it is really early!!! I may add lovely husband to that scene as aforementioned small boy makes an effective bolster between us!!! lol. Do I need to add........without the small boy. Although they would both need to be somewhere safe, see there I go again, over protective to the hilt!

Which language do you want to learn?
I learnt french and german at school, can't remember that much but the odd bit comes back. I like Spanish. I did try to learn it once but I am really shy when it comes to languages. I don't have the confidence to use them.

Definately the one have. I love making my jewellery and playing with all of the healing stones. I am totally addicted to them. I am determined to get my business off the ground so that I can continue to do it. :-)

Do you admire any one’s style?
Noone in particular all of the time. I often see someone on TV or in a picture and think they look really good and like the things that they are wearing but not consistantly. Annoyingly, I am not currently in 'my style'. I put on so much weight with the small boy that I can't fit into any of my normal clothes. That makes me very sad but hope to be able to get on the wii fit again soon to sort it out.

Describe your personal style?
Oops!! Should have seen that one coming! lol. Well, pre small boy, I could be found in Indian Skirts and embroidered tops. Stuff like that. Hopefully they may all come out again at some point!! I don't do groomed! I have long, mad, naturally curly hair that constantly makes me look like I've just got out of bed so groomed!!! no, never! lol

What are you going to do after this?
Did I mention my twitter obsession!! I will probably twitter about it! Also, watch the same episode of 'In the night garden' again and fend off flying toys. Usual stuff.

What is your favorite fruit?
I love grapes, especially black seedless ones, although a really crisp Empire apple at the beggining of their season is also heavenly. One of those I think. No, wait...... fresh pineapple. Ate two whole pots trying to bring on labour with the small boy. Got an incredibly sore mouth but it worked!! :-) Good tip if you need it.

What inspires you?
Hmm!! Music, colours, fresh air, nature and of course my family. They inspire me everyday and I am very thankful for them.

Your favorite book?
Oh no!!! I can't choose that! I love books, all books!!!! Always have.
I don't have a favourite book. I suppose one of my favourite authors is Katie Macallister. She is so funny. If you haven't read any you definately should. You'll laugh out loud and get all hot under the collar at the same time.

Your favourite film?
Definately 'Still Crazy'. I love the music and the actors and it has several of those lump in the throat moments. Well it did for me anyway!!

Do you collect something?
Like Kitty, I collect stones. As a small child this was something to be joked about but now I have a reason. It is my job!!! Of course, most of the stones I collect now are healing crystals but I still pocket the odd rock off the beach!! Sshhh!! Can't help it!

What is your favorite smell?

I want to say fresh bread, but that may be because I am hungry. Kitty does have a point though, a freshly showered lovely husband is hard to beat!! lol Also, the boys when they were babies, all powder and loveliness.

What are you most proud of?
My family, they are my life, all of them. Without them...... don't want to even think about it.

How many times do you press the snooze button before you get up?
If only!!!! I have a small boy who wakes me up at an unreasonable hour, have to force myself awake and get out of bed straight away. Years ago I used to sleep 13 hours a night, my memory was alot better then!!

Cats or dogs?
Hmm!! I've had both and they both have good and bad points. I think the cats were easier to manage though, the dogs were always a bit needy.

What’s your biggest fashion mistake?
Probably everything I wore in the 80's. Although I don't think I was alone in that. he he!

Travis the Tractor is complete!!!

Some of you will know that this weeks project was a cuddly version of Travis the Tractor for the small boy. Hot on the heels of the bigger ones pink dinosaur, this was his request.

I didn't make a pattern as I wasn't really sure where to start, so I just winged it. What do you think. ( I wanted to get a better picture but small boy thought that he had waited long enough!)

I cut cut pieces of felt and pinned them together as I went along. I then used the sewing machine to sew the main body and then added the details by hand.

He seems to like it.

Chakra Cleansing Exercise

At the risk of being labelled completely 'woo woo', I thought I would share a simple Chakra Cleansing Exercise with you. This is a fantastic thing to do when you are lying in bed before you go to sleep.

Step 1 - Find a position that is comfortable and close your eyes.

Step 2 - The first thing to do is to 'ground' yourself. This is a wonderful technique that can be used at other times when you are feeling flightly or stressed. There are alot of different methods but I will mention the two that I often use. One is to imagine taps on your feet. Turn these taps on and allow all of the stress and tension to whoosh out of your body, don't panic if you feel your feet tingle, this is perfectly normal. The other method is to imagine roots coming out of your feet into the earth. (tingling again!) You then visualise a trunk growing up around your legs, growing into branches at your arms. Add leaves, sometimes wildlife and then work your way back down to the roots again. By now you should be feeling wonderfully relaxed.

Step 3 - Concentrate on the base of your spine and visualise a beautiful spinning red disc. Notice how bright it is and the direction that it is spinning in. Make it brighter. If it is spinning anti clockwise try to stop it and start it spinning in a clockwise direction. This can take some effort. this is your Base Chakra.

Step 4 - Next move on to the area around your Navel (Your Navel Chakra) This time, the disc is a beautiful bright orange. Again, make sure that it is spinning in a clockwise direction.

Step 5 - Next is the area in the centre of your torso (Your Sacral Chakra). The disc should be a beautiful golden yellow.

Step 6 - The next Chakra is the Heart Chakra. This one is lovely Emerald Green.

Step 7 - Now we have the Throat Chakra. A beautiful Light Sky Blue.

Step 8 - On the centre of your forehead is your Brow or Third Eye Chakra. A vibrant Indigo or dark blue.

Step 9 - The last of the major Chakras is the Crown Chakra. This one is often violet but can also be white.

Step 10 - Gradually work your way back down through the Chakras to your toes and repeat one of the grounding exercises to finish. You should now be beautifully relaxed and ready for sleep.

It is not unusual to have difficulty reaching some of the colours. This can indicate that the particular chakra is blocked and needs clearing. One way of helping with this is to wear a corresponding healing crystal or just to wear that partular colour.

New style - I've gone chunky!

I made a new bracelet last night. It is alot chunkier than my normal pieces but I really like it. Very touchy feely! It has 36 inches of carnelian in it so its probably quite potent as well!! I complemented it with Fire Opal Swarovski Crystals. Can't decide whether they should have been a different colour?

Carnelian is such an under-rated stone, a real life changer. Some of you are probably fed up with me going on about it!! lol. I have made so much carnelian jewellery for people recently though, they all seem to need it. A lift if you are feeling tired, courage for when you are overwhelmed. Not forgetting that it is incredibly effective for arthritis. Yes, its very orange, but we all need a little bright colour in our lives.

Hayfever and Crystal Spider Web Necklaces

Is it me or is everything particularly hectic at the moment? I wouldn't mind but I don't actually seem to be getting much done!

I thought I would impart a quick hayfever tip as I have been advising alot of people about it recently and it is rather useful. Ladies, if you suffer from hayfever either wear some Amber jewellery or stick an Amber tumble stone in your bra. (Yes, I did say in your bra! It is a quick and useful place to keep them!) After an experiment on Twitter the other day with my friend Madam Salami we discovered that Tigers Eye is also quite affective.

I am determined to list more items on Misi this week. I have been very lazy and just not got around to it. I thought I would be incredibly early for Halloween and list at least one of my favourite Swarovski Crystal Cobweb Necklaces. I have made three now. The first was using Black Diamond Crystals and was absolutely gorgeous, I sold it last year though so that won't be going on. After the sale I then created one in Crystal AB and one in Siam Red.

I changed my method for the latest two. They are all made using a wire frame but for the first one I used loads of small pieces all joined together. This was very fiddly and I wasn't sure of the security. By the time I had made the Crystal AB version I had found a much better method. I used two or three different lengths of wire at the same time so that there were no joins just different wires going in different directions. The end result is still extremely stunning, it was a real experience. They are beautiful for adding extra sparkle to any Halloween outfit. (I know its only June but I like to be organised)

It's hard to get a good photograph of them but they are very beautiful. The spider pendat is pewter.

I made a Halloween range last year, look out for some reappearing in Misi!! lol My favourite is my blood drop bracelet. My favourite colour!!!

Anyway, feeling a bit daft talking about all of this stuff now so will save the rest for later in the year.

Busy little week!

Can't believe it's Sunday again!!.

Where has the week gone? Managed to get quite a bit done this week. Including having a lovely bar-b-que at mum and dads rained off yesterday! :-( Still had a lovely time though.

The lovely Zoe purchased a matching turquoise bracelet to go with the earrings she won. So pleased that she likes them. The carnelian earrings are also with their new owner hatsandmore. I wonder who will win the Malachite Bracelet?

A lady who I have made quite a few pieces for caught up with me at school on Friday. She said that she was desperate for an Amethyst Necklace. This was no problem but she then mentioned that she was really tired all the time. I asked her to pop into my house on her way home as I wasn't sure that it was really amethyst that she needed. (Yes, you've guessed it. I was think of my old friend Carnelian again) I asked her to take turns holding a string of amethyst and then a string of carnelian in her hand. Her reaction was immediate. "Definately Carnelian" she said, "I feel that I need it right now!" So after sending her off with an Amber tumblestone in her bra (yes, you read correctly) for her hayfever, I created a vibrant carnelian necklace which she was pleased to receive at school collection time. I was also thrilled to hear that she had also purchased some cheap store bought chip bracelets but had realised that they weren't anywhere near as potent as the ones that I make. She thinks it may be because I usually make them specifically for the person and could also be something that I channel into them. (Who knows, but if it works don't knock it! I certainly won't!)

While watching 'Come dine with me' (I love that programme) the other night I was admiring a necklace that one of the contestants was wearing. So I decided to make one for myself in my own stoney style.

It is 52 inches long and consists of Gunmetal Iris Seed Beads, Burgundy and AB Swarovski Bicone Crystals and 8mm rounds of Hematite, Obsidian Snowflake and Ocean Jasper. Gorgeous isn't it! I'm very pleased with it.

Hematite - Fe2O3+Mg,Ti+(Al,Cr,Mn,Si,H2O)
Used in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as a healing stone. In the Middle Ages hematite was call ‘Bloodstone’
Mentally - Survival, will power, vitality.
Physically - works with: Circulation. Stimulates the absorption of iron in the small intestine and the formation of red blood corpuscles, improving oxygen supply to the body and stabilizing health.
Chakra - Earth, Base.

Jasper - SiO2+Fe,O,OH,Si

Hi All,

A few family bits and bobs today. Isn't the weather glorious at the moment, long may it continue. we actually got the paddling pool out for the kids, not sure it came out at all last year.

The other day, the smaller one noticed something through the window blinds in the lounge that caught his attention. On closer inspection, we noticed that there was a large snail sliding its way down the window. Quite bazaar! Anyway, I pulled up the blind and it kept him occupied for quite a while until it made it off the window. Can you see it?

As I mentioned in my last blog, I have been creating a pink dinosaur for the bigger one. Well, I finished it yesterday and he loves it. It is supposed to be a likeness for Ruby the Oviraptor from The Land Before time. (Still think it looks like an osterich!)

By the way, I was chuffed again this morning to see another sale from my Mystic Earth website. Its great to know that it is now finally being found by people. As some of you know, I decided to treat my credit card to a wii fit. (something has to keep the ps3 on there company!!!) I am determined to lose the mountain of weight that I put on while I was carrying the smaller one. Well, it came the other week and I love it. Charm bracelet and more Carnelian!!

What a beautiful day!!!

Just catching up on a few things this morning. I have finished creating the 'Rosy' Charm Bracelet. I think I personally prefer my green one but then I don't like pink! Like mine, this one also holds two photograph frames but could hold more if whoever buys it would like them. I am happy to get the photographs the right size as I've finally got that worked out now. (the ones in the frames below are samples that came with them)

I have now listed it on Misi and am still hoping for that first sale.

Do you remember the Amethyst necklace and bracelet that I made for a lady last week? Well, she loved them so much that she immediately ordered the same again in Carnelian. The earrings actually ended up shorter but you get the idea. Isn't the colour fabulous!!!

Now, don't forget that this time next week will be draw day for those lovely earrings. If you haven't already entered then you have one week left.

On other subjects, I am currently interested in doing so many craft projects that I don't know which to start first. Time is against me as usual though and half term doesn't make it any easier.

Small crisis averted earlier as I realised that I had a problem midweek!!! The bigger one has a birthday party to go to which wasn't a problem until I realised that lovely husbands car is in for its MOT on that day and I shall be without car!!!! Luckily, managed to get hold of a friend who will pick the bigger one up!! Phew!!!! This does mean that my forage through the charity shops in town is cancelled though. :-(

Anyone tried the beadalon jump ring tool?

Just wandering through my favourite beading supplies wholesaler (trying to stop myself placing an order!!) and as usual ended up in the tool section. There are always a few things that I look at and wonder about but thought I would see if anyone actually uses them.

I have always used two pairs of pliers to work with my jump rings but has anyone used a beadon jump ring tool? What exactly does it do? Maybe I am being ditzy but it looks a bit odd to me.

I always look at the crimp pliers too, that are supposed to make perfectly round crimps. I tried one of these once and it didn't work.
It is always so tempting going through these sites, I am a bit addicted to them. (I have the same problem with stationery stores!)
I keep thinking I should get some threads in and do some pearl knotting as I was trained to do but it is so much more fiddly and not so enjoyable.

I think I am finally getting the hang of tweetdeck now. Had a great time chatting to alot of you yesterday and am feeling a bit more at home with it. I do find that when it has been on for a while it stuffs up my computer. Anyone else have that trouble? Internet Explorer seems to have some kind of breakdown!

I was hoping to have my first cards completed yesterday but as usual my printer decided to let me down. It is a nightmare, takes me hours to get it to print pictures properly. Just gave up in the end, will try again next week. Need to get some envelopes anyway, I take it we do sell them with envelopes? Hard to tell on the listings on Misi whether they have envelopes or not or though it does make sense!! This is a new thing for me so any advice greatfully received.

Well, here we go, headlong into half term. I am not expecting to get alot done as my head is normally ready to explode with all of the added noise. No excursions planned as the bigger one is a homebody and has to be shoehorned out of the house. He does have a birthday party to attend on wednesday though so the smaller one and I will be able to have a potter around town for a couple of hours.

Awoke the laptop to find good news this morning. Another sale from my Mystic Earth Website. This time it was one of my products, a beautiful Aquamarine Gemini Charm Bracelet, I have one just like it on Misi

This definately started my day well, which I needed as I had a devil of job getting the bigger one to school this morning. We take a friend of his too and would they stop yapping and get ready this morning! I intend to have a fairly stress free day today as it is the last one being half term! It is lovely having both of them here but the bigger one is so loud!! The volume hurts my ears. He also manages to hype up the smaller one which leaves me very stressed.

I have a few projects on the go at the moment. I started a 'Rosy' Gemstone Charm bracelet similar to the green one I made myself in an earlier blog. I will post more of this as it is completed. I also started to make some Gemstone Greetings cards yesterday. They are my first attempt at card making so I don't know how they will go but will keep you posted on those as well.

Me again!!

Before my Mystic Earth site, my first website Radiance Crystals was mainly for the Swarovski Pearl and Crystal Jewellery that I started out making and currently supply to a local Bridal Store. I always felt that it needed a little something so I have just finished revamping it and now it sells beading supplies and findings as well. The range isn't huge at the moment but hopefully it will grow when things start to sell. Please have a wander through and share your thoughts and please have a nitpick for me as I always miss mistakes!! Broken links, text not being shown properly, typos, you know the stuff. Building websites with a toddler around is challenging at best and I admit that my concentration levels aren't where they should be.

Delivery from Sprinkle Sparkles

I received my lovely childrens buttons from Sprinkles Sparkles today. They are wonderful, I just have to decide which of the small ones clothes to put them on.
One thing I must mention, apart from the speed of delivery was the beautiful packaging. They were wrapped in pink tissue paper and tied with pink ribbon. Isn't that fabulous! Thanks Sprinks!

Busy, busy, busy!!
After listing the amethyst bracelet the other day I received a custom order for a necklace and a long pair of earrings in the same style. I completed them this morning. I did my usual trick of thinking I didn't have enough components and ordered more only to find out that I did actually have enough. Never mind.

While ordering extra Amethyst (that I didn't need!) I also acquired some beautiful new Turquoise, I wasn't very happy with my previous stock but these stones are just gorgeous. I just had to use some of them to make a bracelet. Now listed in Misi Store

New beads and Amethyst Bracelet

Hi Everyone,
Its been a busy few days! Had a lovely meal with hubby and the boys for our Wedding Anniversary on Saturday though. (11 years, they have flown by, we'll have been together for 13 years in December, good job I don't think its unlucky!)

I had a new bead delivery this morning, I love getting new stones. I was particularly pleased with this one as one of the two strings were one of my favourties. Ocean Jasper. The other, Oak Jasper is a new one I haven't had before, lovely. ( Oak Jasper on the left, Ocean Jasper on the right)

I don't know alot about the Oak Jasper but the Ocean Jasper (sometimes called Ocean Agate) is only found in Madagascar, it is found in the sea at a particular tide, how special is that! I love all of the different patterns and colours, each bead ranges from cream, red, brown, green, purple and the shapes and patterns are incredible.

Ocean Jasper - SiO2

Mentally - Fortifies self-respect, emotional release, natural resistance.
Physically - Muscle tone, veins, skin disorders, digestion.
Chakra: Third Eye, Higher Heart.
(Due to its colouring and composition I would think that the Oak Jasper has similar properties)

Gemstone Charm Bracelet

I've made it!!! You may remember the charm bracelets that I was admiring last week. Well I have made my own. It has various charms and beads. It also includes various healing gemstones, Green Aventurine, Malachite, Peridot, Unakite, Peace Jade, Bloodstone, Azurite with Malachite and Connemara Marble. I have also put pictures of my children in two small photo frames. I also made my own clasp to make it more rustic. I love it!! I am very drawn to green at the moment, unusual as while I was growing up it was my most hated colour. I never ate the green sweets in fruit gums, skittles etc.

What do you think? I think I may have to make more in different colours.

I'm very new to blogging, only started the other week but already I thoroughly enjoying reading everybody elses. I am currently following lots of people and enjoy reading what they are all up to. I have also been having great fun entering various competitions that people have been holding so I thought it may be time for me to contribute. A little felting project

I have been taking a break from jewellery projects to make a felt book for my youngest. He loves all of his books but tends to be a bit

on the destructive side. I decided to create a soft book for him with all of his current favourite things in. It is coming along very nicely, I am very proud of it, takes a while though. So far I have a duck on the front (he loves birds), Travis the tractor from bob the builder which is favourite toy, The pinky ponk from In the night garden and Bob the Builder. Still to do are Postman Pat, Razzle Dazzle and a Dyson Hoover (don't ask!) I love to create things in felt, making this book is a nice change from creating various characters and monsters from Playstation games for my eldest. The frightening little fellow on the right is called Topstalk. He is a mandagora from the playstation game Final Fantasy 12.

Back on the jewellery side for a minute. Remember those gorgeous charm bracelets I talked about in my last blog. Well, as I cannot afford one at the moment I decided to create one in my own style. Haven't done it yet but have ordered lots of exciting bits and bobs to go on it so watch this space.

Having problems with the laptop at the moment, not sure if it is a virus or a problem with internet explorer. It either locks up completely or starts to open windows all over the place in a neverending loop. Anyone elses ever done that?

Today started in a rather hectic manner! Had both children attached to me whilst trying to get dressed and when I finally managed it the little one sneezed and covered me in yogurt!!! Not to worry, I'm used to be covered in something, the other mums at school must not have a good impression of me. Anyway, finally got Zac off to school and Joe happily pootling around in front of cbeebies so I could get to work.
Over the last few days I have gained a wealth of fabulous information from new friends that I have met on twitter and through blogs. I had no idea all of these wonderful sites were around that would list my hand made items. Now I just have to find the time to make use of them. First of all I must thank Madam Salami who I met on twitter. Your advice has been very helpful and I am very pleased to have met you. On your advice I created this blog and joined Misi where I have managed to list three items. My Misi Store One of the items is a partner for the carnelian bracelet in my last blog. ( The other two are a Kyanite healing pendant and a beautiful blue multi gemstone and Swarovski Crystal Pendant Necklace.) It was so beautiful and wasn't a special design so I decided to share it. I also managed to list two items on Folksy. My Folksy Shop. These were a Wire Worked Rose Quartz and Swarovski Crystal Necklace and a Hematite and Crystal Bracelet. I found folksy from another fascinating blog. Magic making Hands Etsy definately looks worth a go as well but I just don't have the time at the moment. I think I will see how things go with the other two, get some more listings on when I get the chance.
So, what else so far today? Well I entered a competition on Jolicious where I am keeping my fingers crossed for that gorgeous Indian Summer Bracelet!!!!

On my travels through Folksy I discovered some incredible charm bracelets and thought I would share. The seller has their own website Jezebelcharms and they are truly wonderful. Some of her necklaces are incredible, she uses old watch parts. Unfortunately they are a bit out of my price range.

Anyway, still loads to do so must get on. Have a slight family matter to contend with first though!! Food is such fun isn't it.

I have just completed a beautiful carnelian bracelet for one of my myspace friends. It is for his mother and I have added some beautiful Fire Opal Swarovski Crystals to add light to the piece. Carnelian is such a fascinating stone. It is full of energy and confidence and is a real spirit lifter. I have also had alot of success using it to relieve the pain of arthritis and also as a protective buffer in difficult situations. I have used orange carnelian as I prefer it to the red.

In the middle ages, Carnelian was assigned a blood-staunching and anger-calming effect. The Egyptians also used it as a protective stone for the dead. It is one of my favourites. It is so vibrant.

My current all time favourite stone however is labradorite. It is so beautiful and surprising. At first glance you may think that it is all grey. But you would be very wrong. It is totally irridescent. Blues, Greens, Oranges, yellows. It is transfixing. It is also a very active and powerful stone. Very effective for total protection of your aura. It forms a protective shield around you allowing nothing to get in or out. I often recommend labradorite for people who are very sensitive and are receiving alot of negative energy from other people. In an extreme circumstance I also provided some for a client who had been informed by a medium that they had attracted a mischeivous entity which was causing them trouble. The reaction in this case was almost immediate and the client felt extremely relieved. I find it interested noting other peoples reactions when I am wearing labradorite. I find that people who normally 'stress' me out are now feeling that stress themselves. It is very obvious that it is affecting them, sometimes they are unable to stay in my presence. Be careful though, as it is very powerful and if you wear it too much it often gives you a terrible headache. This is a sign that it must be removed completely.

Here is a labradorite bracelet that I made for the gentleman mentioned above. I believe that he is now very attached to it and that it is helping which is wonderful as he is a good friend.

The final thing that I am going to add to this blog is a video that I discovered on you tube. At first glance it is merely a large rock rotating on a platform but it is so much more. It is a wonderful piece of labradorite, watch how the colours change and at times you can see right into the stone. It is a classic opportunity for crystal gazing and letting your mind run free. OK, now I have a headache!!!!

Yesterday I signed up for 'twitter'. I think I may be missing the point. Just when I think I may be getting the hang of it, I suddenly feel lost and confused! It doesn't appear to have any guidelines at all. I could do with a very simple 'how to twitter guide!' Does anyone know of one?
I did get a very useful tip from one of the nice ladys that I am following though. You are currently looking at it.....
I didn't even know that Blogspot existed, but here we are. Yet another thing to keep me tied to my laptop instead of messing about with my healing stones and creating jewellery. Excuse my blogs for being a bit bland, I am a newbie after all. I will try my best to make them more interesting in the future.

Oh yes, and twitter appears to have totally confused my laptop. My website program won't launch and internet explorer keeps getting stuck. Only one thing for it I think..

Do you hate wearing wrist watches? I do!

Last year I decided to do something about it. I made myself a pendant watch, totally non restricting unlike its wristy cousin.I created it using Hematite, Moonstone, Leopardskin Jasper and Swarovski Crystal. It was actually made twice as the first time I put the face in the normal way and found that I should have put it upside down to be able to read it more easily but this was soon rectified.Here is a picture of the one I made for myself.

I loved it, it was 26 inches long to the top of the watch face and looked wonderful as well as being useful. I had loads of comments on it from other people. Soon after I made one for my mum. This time I used stones with appropriate properties to help her. This one was created using Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Moonstone, Obsidian Snowflake, Mookaite and Swarovski Crystal.

Another example is one I made for a customer as a Christmas present. This one was also a healing pendant watch. It holds, Smoky Quartz, Red Carnelian, Flourite, Green and Black Tourmaline, Bloodstone and Swarovski Crystal.

These watches have become one of my favourite creations, each one is so different. Some are extra long, some are vibrantly colourful. I love to see the reactions of the people that I make them for.
